She spins the wheel and bows her head
Working fibre, yarn and thread
Barren she who once was maid
But untroubled by marauder's blade
Wind gust worries hearth-borne flame
She's un-startled by the man that came

Her face is noble, her manner sage
Cataracts cloud, her eyes old aged
She exists like autumn leaf blown
But this she expects, this hour is known
Clearly she asks without fear of fate
Who comes to her door?, the hour's late

Many paths of fate you see old dear
Including one that brought me here
But beyond this, you've not foretold
For fork exists in your path's road
You are needed by the light
Drop this glamour, leave tonight

What mad wind blew you to my house?
You must think I'm someone else
Arriving late to bandy without sense
Rambling of fate and consequence
Theres no value here, no jewels I hide
Even womanhood has long since dried

Hand a blur, his dirk flies free
But Ysmay needs no eyes to see
Reacting as he knew she ought
Deflecting blade with but a thought
His face splits in bearded grin
Deeply sighing she gives in

All at once her glamour thins
Strength returns to aged limbs
Grey straw hair, to cascades of black
Long of limb and straight of back
Milky orbs of eyes, they clear
Visage turned to younger year

This was simplest of her lives a-many
Lived in relative peace and plenty
Donning hidden travel clothes
About to leave the home she chose
Feeling mocked by just-spun thread
Her life a task that has no end

Very interesting piece of writing here, Zall. Mysterious man of the night comes to call and the dialogue is superb. The ending even better, much better. I love this.
