Silence

Down coolies across ancient rivers
the trip’s filled with earths brilliance
Flat prairie to majestic mountains
traveling from the east to the west

Entering Crownest Pass in silence
seeing boulders from a mountain slide
Where in the cold early morning hours
the mountain cracked and buried a town

People rebuilt the town of Frank’s Slide
leaving the boulders as a monument
The new town awaits with bated breath
a mountain that cracks and slides once more

Eagles soar with grace on wind currents
while we humans gaze in awed wonder
Floating with their regal wings outstretched
surveying the world with sharpened eyes

The provincial park is a wonder
with dark forests where wildlife abounds
A glacier fed lake reflects trees
and is teaming with plentiful fish

Squirrels chatter, birds greet and wind sings
filling the soul with a peaceful rest
The silence of nature enfolds me
in this place where the soul comes to heal

I was there with you, Karen, enjoying the silence and majesty of the whole panorama of what you so excellently described.

You really lifted me up into these glorious heights ...

Soul-stirring indeed! And very eautiful!
