I don't know if the skylark is only a European bird; if so, and you haven't heard one sing, it has a beautiful twittering mixed up song that is sung while hovering quite high up.

Sweet plume of the blue,
sing me syrupy songs
while you hover without haste
high in the summer sky
amid cotton cashmere clouds.

I listen with awe
to your pretty melody
that echoes across the
rainbow dotted meadow;
then, in a moment of silence
I see a blur of brown
drop to the ground
like a Harrier jet,
and you are gone,
hidden in grassland,
away from peeping eyes.

These types of aspects of nature are spell binding and you've captured it well here.
Yes, we have them here in Canada.

A gentle observation
of the beauty of nature
in song.
Enjoyed, Ron.

I went back to find one of your poems... and this one is vivid in description. I can see the skylark make it's descent and hear it's song. We have larks here, but I don't know if it's the same bird.  My mother used to live across the road from a marsh.  Birds loved it there, so we often saw many varieties.  Larks were frequent vistors and nesters.  It was amazing to watch them come in at sunset as blue sky turned vermillion and the marsh noise would quiet except for the crickets....  I enjoyed your poem.
