Lori wrote a wonderful poem and
dedicated it to me yesterday. This is
my answer to it. I feel everyone here at
PiP could have written a better poem
than what I offer, but, as they say, it is
the luck of the draw, and I hope she will
like what I have said about her writing.

<><><><>

As I sip my cheap burgundy,
I think of the poem Lori wrote for me.
That was nice of her and now I'll try,
To write one back to her on the sly.
I'm writing this as the sun sets,
I'm under the gun, I start to sweat.
Her double entendre's caught my eye,
I felt like doing the high fives.
Never read anyone so real,
Thought to myself she's the real deal.
I started watching for her name,
Her poems were hot they made a flame.
Then she wrote about fragile Heartsleeve,
Had doubts of her lover so she grieved.
Heartsleeve's opposite was Driftwood,
She was reckless, made it look good.
Lori writes of the good and the bad,
Her characters make you sad and glad.
She's been letting her Goddess appear,
It's who she is, I know that is clear.
Reading her poems of unbridled wit,
Just makes my day I will admit.
And when she writes of love gone sour,
I can devour it by the hour.
Ah, I take a sip of this good wine,
It's the time of day to unwind.
And think of roads I've not been down,
And of the song send in the clowns.
I know this simple poem of rhyme,
Is not the sort to be called prime.
Lori, you're the best at what you do,
Your words make me laugh, make me blue.
I'll stop now and this poem I'll seal,
It's how Lori's writing makes me feel.
So from the bottom of my wine glass,
I salute you, Lori, for your class.

Awe Jerry! My goodness how you do go on! Thank you for your more than generous compliments. I don't know what to say...Obviously you are my biggest supporter
and you have left me with a lot to live up to my friend. Thank you so much for your continued kindness

Thank you, Lori, but you have already lived up to them, thus the poem. Glad you like it.

Her poem dedicated to me was the reason for this, Eric, and hers was the best by far. I felt under the gun to write a response, and as you know, that kind of pressure can be trying. I appreciate your kind words.

Hi, JL, I didn't think I did good enough. Her poem was so out of sight and mine, well, mediocre to say the lest.
