The old woman, voodoo queen,
Made potions for dollar bills
For a quarter she'd bare a toothless grin
And shoo-shoo you away like a fly

Her potions were made from graveyard dirt
Swamp rats tongue and chicken gizzards
Pulverized hearts of executed men
And petrified alligator eyes

They came to her, young and old
Rich and trashy poor
Bringing their requests, a love scorned
And eye for an eye, a tooth fer sho

Behind a very secret back door
Everyone knew about
The old voodoo queen did her business
Even the sheriff feared to arrest her on lawful charges

People would come to the back door
Bringing their photographs, fingernail clippings
locks of hair
and the first few lines of a wistful wish.

Ooops! Sorry. I'll put in a request to the Voodoo Woman for the next one to be heavy with plenty of thunder and lightning.

Any time that any one
can plant a poem of a seed
in serenity...

it's got to be a hit!

and ne'er a miss.

Good job, J!
