                               Tell the Babies

Tell the babies that the blood which flows in their veins today
built the Pyramids centuries ago with stones from the Earth.
Tell the babies that the genes that make them who they are
created writing and education when the rest of the world was
bathed in ignorance.
Tell them that the voices that whisper are the ancestors
anchored within, echoing even as they sleep, to build the next
great tomorrows like were built the last magnificent yesterdays.
Tell them that they are required to rule and before they can
must first rule themselves with knowledge that resists any
attempts to dwarf their Humanity or make them tumble from
pyramids of thought to ghettoes of mind.
Tell the babies that the ancestors left them a living legacy
testifying that they were designed for accomplishment,
engineered for success and somewhere in between was
dropped an endowed seed of greatness by the Almighty
Architect to let them know that there is a hero within.
And then, don’t forget to tell yourself !

Namyh, you have penned a poem for all the ages. You have given direction to the new blood just born what their legacy must be. You have put into their mouths the reason and reality of what they are going to face. You have written for the ages, my friend.

Swampguy - If we fail to find merit, love and belief in ourselves, how can we pass them on to the next generation who will be looking for the same things we failed to find. A reminder of the obligations we’ve inherited is needed now and then. We forget so easily that this great future we live in stands on the shoulders of an unforgettable past. It views the parade of Man’s hopes and dreams marching towards tomorrow. So we better tell the babies what they need to know to get there or they’ll be stumbling out of step all the way and we’ll be the ones at fault for it. Thanks Swampguy for your wonderful recognition that this was written for “all the ages” because indeed it was. Namyh

Morning Star – I believe in your seriousness and I love that you loved this piece. Puts a smile on this old poet’s face. Sometimes it’s not that we don’t know something but more that we don’t know that we don’t know, and therefore you can’t miss what you never had even though you had a right to it in the first place. Whoa! That one even gives me a headache but imagine the ‘not knowing’ passed on to the next generation and they find themselves in the same pickle of ignorance that you may have found yourself. Now I really need that Tylenol but thanks Morning Star for letting me rant a little. I hope this helps when most needed and thanks also for your ‘fantastic’. Namyh
