One Hundred Years From Now
No one will remember us one hundred years from now.
No more than the rock lying beside the road.
We will be forgotten. No one will remember how,
The good and bad that from us flowed.

The rock that merry travelers whipped past,
while speeding on vacation dear.
They looked at all a second each to make it last.
But it lasted not, dear reader, I fear.

One hundred years from now with our bones bleached white,
our flesh turned to atoms circling in wind fast, and tight.
When we have given up the ghost in earthly flight.
When we have left our dreams, gone into the night.

Who will cry for us just one good cold tear?
We will long be in our earthly grave.
All who knew us gone, I fear.
As we push up daisies from our dark cave.

So awake, dear reader, sit up, and look around.
For much beauty can be found
Awake and drink in every sound
For delights around us abound.

Oh,some of us will survive in peoples minds, or in books, whatever form books will be in a hundred years. But you are correct about most of us, gone and forgotten.

Welcome to Pip, Rabbitlover!

You have written your thoughts in very good poetic form. You might be back by then, looking for a lost love to meet again I think all of us have a reason to BE and as we are unique we shall not be forgotten. The question is "who will remember us?" Someone "down here" maybe if we are lucky, but the One Who sent us on this adventure on Earth will always love us and remember us. We are in Him and He is in us ... we are little divine sparks that are part of the Big Light.

There is transformation, the grave is not our final destination ... not for our essence, in my opinion.

You are so right with your advice to live in full awareness of the beauty that surrounds us.

I enjoyed your poem, it is certainly thought provoking.
