.

Mist drifts
In from the East

There are tall ships
Gliding on the horizon line
Their faint silhouettes barely
Discernible in pale blue light

Loud birds have not yet
Begun to fill the sky
The town yet asleep in
Whatever dreams it has
Is still

Who are these slender girls
Not quite women in long
White dresses belted with
Blue ribbons looking out to sea

They move as if unaware
Of all that has happened
One puts a shading hand
To her brow

Another turns sees me
Standing silently nearby
Confused yet unafraid

And smiles

Yes, John, and aren't those sudden smiles caught just when the eyes make contact, just  wonderful treasurers.
You always give us something to think about.
