I saunter within my own silhouette.
We have grown old
have moved closer to the other.
It's at times such as this
I realize my silhouette and I
are becoming as one.
That's quite frightening
to tell the truth,
and I have a thing about telling the truth.
There's a doomsday feeling of dread
that someday when the silhouette and I
totally become as one;
death visits.

A wanderer
for much of my life,
looking for
answers to my screaming questions.
No one paid any attention, so
I wandered in the madness of the moment,
stuck in the middle of dead-end streets
and numbed insanity.
I was wrong.
I was right.
I walked alone,
disillusioned and jaded.

I still wander,
not on hot, dusty roads as back then.
I wander the Internet.
Not the same
as my old wandering days
still, it satisfies
a wanderlust.
Plus, I'm warm in the winter,
cool in the summer.
Didn't used to be that way.
I love my life.
I love my former life,
with all the pitfalls it threw in front of me.
I won some.
I lost more.
I'm still here,
not drooling.
That my friend,
is the ultimate wandering man

Wonderful...I too would live it all again with the joy and the pain...it has made me who I am...I feel this poem...I too have wandered from one end of my country to the other and lived an interesting life...still there are many who call me too innocent and much too truthful...A great read...

A fellow wanderer is good to find, Startime, sometimes being innocent and too truthful is a perfect match up. Thank you for being here.

Appreciate the nice thoughts, Amaryllis.

Any time a poet can write something thought-provoking, Kat, is worth the time and effort in writing it. Thanks.

Thank you Spiros, for your kind thoughts.

You're always one step ahead
if you realize you are not
drooling.

Except when it comes to exceptional food.
Drooling is then allowed.

Jerry
Aren't we all wanderers in some way or other?
Reminds me of the old Gilbert O'Sullivan song, "Alone Again Naturally"

Ya just had to put that drool line in didn't ya?
Damn, my shirt's damp again.

Excellent write Jerry.

Haha!! Yeah, Eric, the drool had to come, you be careful now.

Yep, I think everyone wanders in their own special way, man. And that Gilbert O'Sullivan song just hits just the right spot.
