.

because the mass
was radiopaque

and the cells grinned under
the microscope

and the doctor made
that elevator face

while the nurses fluttered
with literature

little pamphlets

        magic papers

                websites

with the tuesday
beyond the window

brash, like a new-changed
Swallowtail

on the tongue of summer

.

What incredible imagery in this conclusion. Your poem is packed with emotion, dear Amaryllis.

Aruba seems a good place to take the distance  from the "elevator face" of the doctor and from his point of view and to allow the healing energy to flow freely.

Love,
Margherita

Yes. Indeed. Sail away to Aruba, a good place to drown your troubles and find new dreams.

I think we all fear the "elevator face" and wanting to run and escape ..I really liked this it was short but even with few words you really portrayed an image and got your point across, i find writers who can do that so talented! I look forward to reading more of your writings.

A
I don't know who it is but I'm happy for them if this means they have been cured or there were no negative test results and I hope they have a wonderful vacation.
Good news is always refreshing when it comes out of that element. If it's a last ditch thing then I still wish them the best!!
Great thought evoking write!
