Do i dare to understand you?
To probe into your soul?
Afraid of what i might find
i recoil at the mere thought.

For you have shown nothing
but bitterness.
Such disdain,
for all i ever wanted was a
bit of love, acceptance.

A soul's given right...

My tears will not define me.
For out of the darkness i will
seek the light.

I will pity you
for you are not worthy
of the love in which my spirit
sends.

For the only real love
that matters is the love
of oneself.

Welcome back, dear dreamgal! I enjoyed your poem. It is good to be strong and to love ourselves consciously, as it helps to overcome moments of deep hurt, that has been thoughtlessly inflicted on us.

As Oscar Wilde said "To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance" ...

But love for others goes hand in hand with it.

Thank you all for your responses this was for my sister actually. Lucky for me i have a wonderful husband. But not so much sisterly love right now.
