Your value
Wholly visual
I have enough of you
As needs no more

You’re not her
I learned that long ago
Briefly an illusion
Then nothing there

Yet in your looks
I find recompense
For moments spent
With distance kept
These fleeting flutters
In innocuous desire

For my dear
As you can see
Your face and figure
Can still bring poetry

And in defense
Of my savoring
Even wise butterflies
Still love the flower

What I liked was
"Even wise butterflies
still love the flower",
which reminds me of the old saying, "The heart has reasons the mind knows not of".
An animal touches an electric fence, and gets a shock. It doesn't touch that fence again.
Not so with humans. Even very wise people cannot understand this. Logic would dictate that once burnt at love, don't do it again.
Am I way off base here let me know.
