in the town square
homage of innocents
in little pink dresses
the order of the day
the sky is upside down
the ribs of heaven
are cotton candy sweet
every eye is filmy flesh
speculative innocent 1950s
smiles the order of the day
a low-sung red convertible
cruising Main Street cool
waiting for Elvis to show
in glorious days of youth
naive to the nth, but cool
an innocent begins to cry
she's been a naughty girl
take her pink dress away

Those last three lines are an in depth poem by themselves, but I appreciate the subtle foreshadow that led me there.

the ending, for me, shook me.

Actually, the ending shook me also, Karen, I didn't see it coming. I just love it when things like that happens. Thank you for your time spent in the town square.

Nodding with smiles. Although it's sometimes disturbing, I love when my fingers take over my brain like that.

It's excellent, Jer, truly.

Wondered if they took her pink dress and gave her a red one instead (wink)

Now look who's being naughty, Lori. Heh-Heh. I have a feeling something on that order might have transpired. Thanks for pointing it out.
