Like transparency of the echo
Common sense is plummeted
Into silence . . .

You must reject contrition;
Regrets are a waste of time,
They lead you to the flame
Of sorrow. How can you
Taste sorrow on your tongue,
Like ashes of foul deeds
Dropping like pebbles when
You're not the same person
You used to be back in tha day.

You must stop this
Smiting of your soul for
Things in the past gone bad.

Your very acts of sorrow
Confirms you are not the
Same as you were in those
Black days. Why then do you
Allow the evil creature to
Visit you in your dark and
Hidden places?

You are automatically
Reprieved by the very act
Of growing into who you
Are. You have left the other
You in its rightful foul place.
Why then, is this constant,
Drip by cutting drip allowed
To give you inner turmoil?

Ah, there is an unbroken sigh
Of harmony within you which
Allows you to separate who you
Are now from who you were then.

Thank you, Eric, you are a gracious commenter. I see you have graced PiP with one of your gems, I'm headed there as we speak ... er . . . as we type.

I guess that all happens because we have trouble forgiving ourselves.  Let's hope "God" doesn't have the same trouble.

Enjoyed, Jerry.

Pf course that is a word, spiros, if Odgen Nash can invent words, so then, can we. Thanks for stopping by.

I found the way to forgive myself in October 2011, Helen. It was a long time coming, but I have breathed easier and slept better since. Appreciate your comments.

It amazes me how much we change as we grow in wisdom. At least most of us do.

Ain't dat da truff, Ida. Whoever coined the phrase, "Youth is wasted on the young," knew what he was talking about. Thank you for being here.
