Every Relationship Has A
Beginning and An End

What we used to have
we don't have anymore
and I can't live in the past
this I know for sure,
so goodbye my love
so long my friend
all the things we were
have come to an end.

I realize that after a
relationship is over
feelings and emotions
remain...this is written
after time passed and
after emotions were
sorted or should I say
shifted through.

Well said, dear James. I believe though that there is never really an end, there is rather transformation. The people who had a role in our lives remain part of our "memory book", but we have to learn that kind of emotional detachment that allows us to not feel pain anymore (or resentment for having been hurt).

The memories never die, my friend, and have become a part of who you are, as long as you relegate them to their proper place.

Relationships mean change. I think Richard Bach wries it very well...we seek out problems for their gifts. I am grateful for the touches of spirit that bring poems to life, for the hearts reading on the other end of my thoughts, who respond, even those who remain still. Reading this morning about goodbyes and hello's reminds me that time is all the more precious, but we come away with gifts to cherish in those moments that make life worth living, and in the those that teach wisdom to choose what moves one to hold, forgive, love. How powerful those gifts are. ~ K
