Old man of the cold season
when your eyes close
can you not expose
your ears to the songs of birds
that sing at the birth of springtime

Can you not feel the warmth of the sun
that dress the earth with flowers of beauty
and decorate trees with green

When you sleep, you miss
the beauty of springtime
you miss her mantle of flowers
the warm, smiling sunshine
the song of bees
that echo in chambers of daffodils.

Old man of the cold season
why can’t you linger
to witness the miracle-birth of spring?

It’s so beautiful.

I wish he was sleeping right now..he is very much awake in north central Pa.

But you poem speaks of what is normal, and well, I need to add..

I enjoyed reading it, love the ways it sings of old man winter.

"Old man of the cold season",
chooses his time to hear, to feel, to see
the beauty in Spring.
Enjoying your poetry, Ron.

He's (old man winter) been gone a while now, from here (South East Texas) and I'm actually missing him with the temperatures going up and the humidity closing in ...

very nice write, my friend.

Enjoyed,

j.

It is beautiful and this is a good idea transposed into a poet's view.
Very enjoyable read.
