I had forgotten how easy it was being easy
until I stopped at the stop light
and then went anyway, just because
no one else was coming or even close

so I took the opportunity to get into
knowing some stranger that was double parked
with her legs already out the door
somewhere between leaving and arriving

we shared a coffee that had moustaches
mine became dirty water colored
hers became frothy white over latin
but the smiles were the same size

and she had other things for my hands to know
she said I fit her outfit like I planned it
but she took it off so it could be worn again
if she made another wrong turn off the 101

where the cigar smoke joined improper circles
