Bicycles (from Boyhood Tales)

Bicycles where always about two wheelers,
even when all my bikes had three;
yet, bicycles were always about two wheelers,
and I had more falls,
scraped knees and elbows,
sore spots and head-bumps
from tricycles trying to be bicycles
than I ever had from bicycles -
two wheelers -
the '57 Chevy of a four-year old
trying to impress
the girl next door.

Bicycles were always about two wheelers,
but she said she loved me . . .
when I rode up . . . on three.

Never had a three-wheeler, maybe that's why she picked you over me. I hurt to this very day, J. Heehee

Thank you for reading / commenting, Alison, 2islander2, Margherita and Jerry.  I'm tickled you enjoyed it.

I still have a scar on my forehead where, if you can believe it, I went over the handlebars on my tricycle!

But that's another Boyhood Tale to spin.
