So when the spirit of desire
comes to work its trickery
and one wonders and ponders
should I, should I not,
it pays to travel back, back, back,
into one’s very soul
to find the right direction
perhaps known all along.

But I took the hand of mind
and thought for quite some time
and I searched for a pulse
within the bounds of heart
but of the soul it was still
in wait of the outcome.

So when in fear the soul cannot
lift a hand to say stop, stop,
and we must simply be
knowledgeable enough
to take the right path.

So I walked the path of memories
felt again your hand in mind
and let the soul rejoice
because always what was right
remains forever unsurpassed
by my own desire.

Desire, desire, oh, spirit of desire
why tempt the knowledgeable
again, again, again?

I really like the message in your poem.
Lots of wisdom to ponder.
Enjoyed,

Thanks so much, Ms E.  Sometimes it seems to me that life always delivers the false and not the true but I guess we can always "dream" of the opposite.

Life seems to be one temptation after another, whether it be carnal in nature, or a box of chocolate or a bottle of wine, whatever, it is up to our life's experiences to find a way to accept or reject.

Very well said, Jerry, and now why did I have to write it in poem/story form?  Just the way my mind works I suppose when trying to make sense of life.

You treated this theme with great sensitiveness, dear Helen. Beautiful words.
