they say gods give us signs
could be the howl of a beast
in a faraway distance
might be something as simple
as a leaf
falling before its time
sometimes it's the still of the night
the wail of death's aftermath
maybe it is the smell of a rose bush
in the dread of winter
could be most anything
you have to pay attention
but on the day
the storm came
one that would be remembered forever
the gods were not talking
that day
they were roaring

Sometime a gentle nudge just doesn't cut it, does it?  I shiver to think of having to bear that kind of wrath.

Yes indeed, Nicole, the wrath of the gods are to be much feared. Thank you for being here.

Yes, Jerry, I would be very careful when it comes to "the gods" - don't think they're as reliable as God.  Enjoyed the read though.

I'm not all that positive any of the gods are reliable, Helen. I appreciate that you read and commented on my poem.

Jerry
I am not a religious person..
But I do feel the presence of a power I do not understand.
I think these are the Gods you refer to in this poem
"the gods were not talking
that day
they were roaring"

Katrina, I am thinking..
Indeed the energy entities were in full control in
the time period of that awesome display of natural power.

I enjoyed this poem, and believe that the same power
allowed you to write it.

Hello Ice. Thank you for being here. I'm the same as you, non-religious, but wondering if there is a higher power we know nothinhg of.

The Katrina guess is half right, the other half is personal. But, yeah, I was thinking Katrina too.
