Fair to middlin' of nowhere

I had forgotten
how noisy the night
can be
when the wind is still
dusk falls on wild turkey calls
red foxes and coyotes yapping
cricket chirps undisturbed
town dogs barking
somebody's TV's blaring
voices a way up the road
I had forgotten
how noisy the night
can be

Beautiful noises to sleep to...
When I was a wee-lad and staying at my
granddads farm I would go out in the fields
at night and lay down on the ground and
listen to the night creatures;
one time I fell asleep, drove my granddad
crazy until he found me, poor guy...

Loved your poem!!

Lori
All of those noises are proof that life exists, and goes on, day and night.

You  have mixed the workings of nature,
with the sounds of civilization..
a perfect mix if the civilization part is not overdone..

This poem brought me back to my youth, when I would listen for pheasents crowing just at sunset.

Thank you for it.

Spring has sprung...do you think there will be a late snow?

How are the 'squitos out your way?

I've been nibbled times 7 in just a day...

This is peaceful and yet so full of life, I feel inspired, dear Lori.

(except by the sound of approaching mosquitos!)
Too early they have appeared this year I find!

Most beautiful work.

Love,
margherita
