When Grendel told the tale
the alliteration was much rougher,
and the narrative style was spotty, at best.
Perhaps that’s why the other version lasts.

Shakespeare slandered Richard so badly,
he’d still be in litigation,
if Henry had left any relatives living.

Considering who owns the final press,
I wonder sometimes
what we’ll look like when the dust settles.

Intriguing and thought-provoking. Writing often evolves into a life of its own... after the dust settles.

And I heard somewhere that Grendel's version was beastly!

Ah, Sunshine, to leave my prints on history, how great would that be?

There are two sides to every coin, indeed.     Very thought provoking.

Hey Ida, thanks!
Nicole, yeah.  And people are always willing to believe the best story, or shall I say, would rather believe the best story? Truth tends to be a little less interesting.

Thanks, Alison.  Yup.  I could have expanded it to hideous length if I wanted to cite every time the tale we remember is the tale best told, rather than the truth, but why bother? People like the better story, don't we?
