Fair to middlin' of nowhere

In the
Grand Scheme
of things
When  feeling
like a grain of sand
in the Sahara
Suddenly becoming
an individual
of great distinction
and attention
By being gusted
into an eye
Causing much pain
and discomfort
Wreaking havoc
on that
then and there
Inflicting tears
until found
touched
and removed
Returned to dirt
of insignificance
The sound of grit
beneath a shoe

I pondered on it later and thought it was a good metaphor for life in general. Being plucked from the Collective Consciousness
and deposited into the skin of life and then coming full circle...dust to dust.
But that wasn't my thinking at the time of the writing.

Thanks for the read,
lori

I enjoyed your poem and I thought it did make for a very raw and thought provoking metaphor for life and, though I don't think they have oysters in the Sahara, but, um, yeah, still, if they did, keep in mind, a bit of sand as an irritant can easily become a pearl.

LHBob,
yes, I forgot about the pearl. Thank you for reminding me. I  need to keep that close to my heart and soul. Bless your heart
