Sparkling sweet eyes

I can see the moonlight in your eyes
Sparkling sweet eyes
Singing pomegranate songs
Playing that old six string…

Your voice as clear and pure
As the deepest of blue sea
Reciting lyrics from the back of your mind
Thoughts of living young and free…

Chanting springtime whispers of love
Settling for living as best you can
Open for whatever may come your way
Promising sweet nothings with a song…

Those who know you seem to understand
You’re happy with that old guitar
And a springtime song you dreamed about
One day, when you were young…

I love to see that moonlight in your eyes
And especially, when you smile,
when you play that old six string,
and when you pour out your heart and sing…

Sparkling sweet eyes
Singing pomegranate songs
Playing that old six string and
pouring out your heart when you sing…

Your voice as clear and pure
As the deepest of blue sea
Reciting lyrics from the back of your mind
Thoughts of living young and free…

Chanting springtime whispers of love
Settling for living as best you can
Open for whatever may come your way
Promising sweet nothings with a song…

I can see the moonlight in your eyes
Sparkling sweet eyes
Singing pomegranate songs
and…
playing that old six string…

This is fantastically beautiful, JL. Every stanza digs a little deeper into your heart. I agree with Bel1e, put to country music and it would be heartbreaking.

WORD TO HUSBANDS . . .
To keep your marriage brimming
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you're wrong, admit it;
Whenever you're right, shut up

Thanks, Jerry.  This is about a friend of mine, from some years back.
And, she truly is that way.
Well, to me she is.
Again, thank you for your very kind reply.

"Your voice as clear and pure
As the deepest of blue sea
Reciting lyrics from the back of your mind
Thoughts of living young and free…"

Poems sometimes take me back to scenes of long gone times.
This one forty years ago, sitting with a group of hippies.
I can see a girl, and hear her singing.
"Darcey Farrow" ( a kind of pomegranate song) with a sad ending.
She is playing a dulcimer, instead of a six string..
I loved her, but never told, or touched her..

Here you have said the groups motto..

"Settling for living as best you can"

Thanks for the poem, it is very good.
And thank you for stirring my memory

"Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance."

JL....to be perfectly honest
I broke down at the first stanza.

This brought my brother home to me
so clearly, so dearly,
and even as I type now, I'm doing so
through reflective wet eyes.

Some poems, my friend, are meant to be
found at the right moment.

Thank you for being my moment.

Beautiful song, JL.  It's amazing how music, through a voice, an instrument, what have you, sings it's way into your soul; leaving an indelible impression.  This made me want to reach for that old guitar... Lol.  I'll just have to settle for pen though.     I very much enjoyed this.
