go ahead
tell me of your shuttered nights
closeted behind
drapes and curtained windows
is yours a happy life
glowing with everything right with the world
in the deep of the night
does the "act" still excite you
or just through the motions you both go
whisper to me
about the nights when you are on edge
about everything
and nothing in general
when you have the itch to run
far, far away
or at least take a lover
speak to me
who is it that wears your body
as if the skin was her own
let's dig a little deeper
shall we
tell me about that old wound
which has festered since the tenth grade
and you have to see her everyday
smile and lie
lie and smile
when you'd like to rip out her eyes
come
draw the drapes and curtains
of your night room
search for the switch
that will turn me, your conscience off
but you can't find that darnn switch
and you never will

go ahead
tell me of your shuttered nights
closeted behind
drapes and curtained windows

Sometimes the toughest thing to do is look into that telltale mirror.

Fantastic write!

Yep. We never know what is behind even our lover's eyes, sometimes until it is much, much too late.

Thanks Baby Girl for being here.

Great write, JP.  The night isn't a very good coconspritor, that's for sure.  Sadly, I could relate to this only too well... the anxiety that creeps in a little further with every slow, agonizing minute... and just wanting to bolt out the door.  Who's doing the driving here, indeed?  It's certainly not me.

Hi Michael, and thanks. Sounds like you know all too well that "uneasy" feeling in the gloom of the night. Appreciate you being here in my world.

That doesn't stop us from looking, though... even as our lack of success keeps us wide awake night after night. Excellent write, Jerry!!

Wow-wow.... very intense.
Nice writing, Jerry!
Had me thinking of the movie:
"A street car named desire".

Very nice, Jerry.

Great movie, JL . . . Stellaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Hah. Couldn't resist. Every year I get an invitation for the Tennessee Williams extravaganza they have in the quarter where he lived and wrote "A Streetcar Named Desire." During the festivities there is a contest to find the best voice to scream the Stella word.

Thank you, JL, for being here . . .
