Evermore Just Listens

Weddings
are always beautiful - except, of course,
when  they are forced -
a little one in the oven
the most prime of examples.
Then, all words are rote,
all meaning is lost,
everything meaningless
for the sake of a name.
And Evermore just listens,
as the words float by,
meandering in  the air,
purposeless, except,
for a name.

Weddings are always beautiful - except ,
when Evermore,
just listens . . .

Yeah, you right, j. I have come to believe that the marriage ceremony and the words that go with that ceremony, too often fall on deaf ears anyway. I know they did mine. It was just something to get through so we could start enjoying our blissful forever. Within a year we were hating each others guts.

Wow, great concept here. Says sooooo much in just a single statement.  Enjoyed this, even if it pinched me a little bit.

Jerry, the couple this was written about never had any bliss; it was just old-fashion ideas from parents.  The couple lasted about a year,
and both are much happier not tied to each other.

Thanks for stepping in...

Thank you Michael.  Unfortunately it happens all to often, and all to often it doesn't work.

How sadly true... shotgun marriages sure don't seem to have a high success rate... It's enough of a challenge when the binding is sought.

You packed a punch in a few lines, my friend... well done!

It does happen way too often.
Enjoyed your insight, and write.
