*"There's a patch of old snow in a corner"
In front of my house--north side
In back of what's left of the wood-rick
The stack, in April sags in the middle
Its void gone to ash, since autumn-October.

The star that glows down on the roof of my home
Defines a shadow, by its obtuse angle
Stretching in degree's by the shingled decline.
Spirits of cold still haunt the dark side,
Where March prevails as still king of ides-
The light side ruled by the queen of April

The old-snow is saved, from warm erase
Beneath protruding eaves--it liesure's
Lingering-seemingly fail safe.
In cool shadows--the lone survivor
Of much shorter days, in a just past season.

But spring air courts, will have its way
Place in it the urge for leaving;
A snow patch cannot question why,
It just knows it cannot stay.

* Robert Frost, first line of "A patch Of Old Snow"
  Published in Mountain Interval 1920

"

Place in it the urge for leaving,
And it will not questions why,
Because it knows it cannot stay--"

snow in the corner
found a home, not ready to leave
spring has sprung, laughingly
knowing full well how things will be
snow in the corner
cares not a darn
he's hanging in, no matter the burn

Enjoyed your poem, Ice, just thinking nastily . . .

Thanks Jerry, and I did enjoy your add.......:-)

Like an old man, the snow in the corner is.
Like me, it is old enough to make a fool of itself, and doesn't give a uhhh darn.

Snow varies
for show, I believe,
or for want of temps
or maybe geographical
curvature,
but snow varies,
not just in structure
but in the way
it hugs its bed
as if knowing,
I am here but for now
and lasts long enough
to know its fate...

I do so enjoy when you make my thoughts wander...

Ms. E
Thank you for the reply,
And enjoying it all the way through..
That is important to me as I tend to ramble

"Fun" is an important part of "enjoying"....:-)
Thanks for the reply.

Sunny
Now that is a very good answer to the questions
still left in the mind at the end of my poem.
Thank you for thinking so deeply
about that little patch of snow...for after all,
the snow patch is every one of us, and it and all
are bound by the same set of physical laws.
Thank you.

True, but the Queen of April, will cast her sensual
spell, and melt the patches body, regardless of that rufian
who thinks he is king, and has the last word.
Thank you.

And it always a treat to see that you have read me.
Thank you

A snow patch cannot question why,
It just knows it cannot stay.

It's sad to realize a patch of snow may have more wisdom than I do! LOL But perhaps it's outstayed its welcome, too.

This is absolutely beautiful, ice... I love the way you took Frost's line as intro to a write uniquely yours.

After you gave it such warm and loving attention, the patch of snow has surely melted ...

This is a wonderful representation of the "change of guards" between winter and spring, Ford.

Much enjoyed.
