Its funny...

One year later, I look into your eyes and I feel the same feelings I did one year ago.

But it is better and different.
I look at you and see a new woman,
fresh and free
full of life, breath and energy.

There are the moments those very brief moments
when your face changes
still thoughts lingering from your past,
old fears that have left their mark...

So, we change the subject,
to the here and now
and your light shines again

I think back, to you
sitting in your pharmacy window
from my eyes, oh what a view
the light on your neck as you turn away

the image of you, holding up my little blonde bunny
my Easter bunny and you
it is seared into my brain

your story of how she magically appeared
"she, must've been hiding in the bushes", I think
"but now, she's no longer afraid"

so now, now I take a break
and slip outside my window,
leaning out above the cobblestones
on this narrow street that has become my home

around the corner plays a song
one of my Father's favorites
"Raindrops keep falling on my head"
"nothing is worrying me"

I pause to think,
I wonder what our fathers are doing now
perhaps smiling, shaking hands
"nice to meet you", they say
in that beautiful place of light

near, but high above in a distant "land"

"Thats my boy!" I hear in my father's voice

I slip in, back to bed to finish this chapter
with the thoughts of the glow above us
the light from the moon, the stars and Venus
hidden, but their rays, oh how they bounce

just to light our way

Brad, I always read and enjoy the poems of yours I find.  I don't always have time to comment though.  I can say with absolute certainty, that, in my humble opinion, this is your masterpiece.  I love it for so many reasons, especially the sensitivity and the various nostalgia's blending with the happiness and positivity of the now in it.  I love the cleverness of the title - ambiguous, but not in the "either or" sense, but the "both" sense.
