Mona Lisa Just Smiled

In the quiet, scarlet chambers of your heart,
I've found the canvas to display my art
all crooked, cerulean and Magritte-styled
and I'm a picture of sunshine 'cause
Mona Lisa just smiled

Tonight oh tonight
the light will be backstabbing just right
and you and I will wander along
the edge of highway love at dawn
so get your shoes on, baby
you know you are the lady
that busted my heart open
with just a grin

Even if it takes eternity to combine with you,
I'll be counting change to buy me a clue
all about your delicate, darkened sanctuary
don't wake me 'cause I'm dancing with
Grace Kelly in my dreams

You see, I've been the genius I've been the fool,
and the romantic loser trying to play it cool
but man, I can't seem to get a thing right
except getting with you 'cause
you are my sacred inferno's light

Tonight hey tonight
the pain will come with a side of insight
and you and I will wonder along
the sweetness in a Beatles song
so get your hair right, angel
you know you're the magic spell
that commands my swirling seas
with just a tease

Oh upon her soft ruby lips,
I hang on so desperately
and with my hand on her hips
somehow miraculously,
I'm gonna dream along with you,
go in style
and Mona Lisa just smiled
and I'm fit to be tied

In the quiet, blue swirling in your eyes
I've found a new beginning shining sunrise
yeah the sun envies your adoring style
and I'm a perfect diamond of love 'cause
you just smiled
yeah Mona Lisa simply grinned
'cause my heart's but a feather on the wind

Tonight, yeah tonight
love will shower down from such great heights
and you and I will blunder along
the sound of heartbeats skipping on
like a scratchy record in the machine
the voice of Billie Holiday just beamed
and lit us up for a while
oh like Mona Lisa's smile
and we'll be satisfied
yeah we'll be satisfied

"I will hang on the hook of your splendor" -Snow Patrol, 'Dark Roman Wine'

I would love to hear this put to music,
because it is a great song!

as was I was reading this,
I was thinking, this would make a great song.

Then I read Sunshine's comment
I 100% agree

love the title and love this line
"Even if it takes eternity to combine with you,"

Bravo!
