Who are you to judge me?
You've never worn my shoes.
While you were still in diapers
I went and paid my dues.

I marched and packed a rifle
In the U. S. Infantry-
You wouldn't have your right to speech
If not for such as me.

Complainer? Whiner? Loser?
Why such I just may be...
What right, though, does that give you
To cast a stone at me.

I've fought my wars, And bear the scars
Of every thing I did-
Though many may be seen, my friend
The worst ones remain hid.

A missing arm, an eye, or leg-
Why these wounds bring acclaim!
But wounds of heart and mind and soul
Unseen, but still they maim.

Excuses? No, not hardly-
Apologies? I doubt-
Tis better far to hold ones peace
And find what life's about.

I stand alone, and hold my own
And fear, I hold of none
And your opinions phase me not
I'll die before I'll run.

to me....this is a real man...those that go to war, hold the scars hidden, and stand...for what they believe...very well written
