I pick up the leather clad volume,
its feel familiar to my fingers,
flip open the slippery pages,
get comfortable, and one word
one verse at a time I proceed.

Sometimes  advancing too fast
makes back tracking
and retracing my steps necessary,

but it matters not the time
it takes to get there
for I know that no matter where I start
the finish will be a resting place
for me.

Leather clad volumes. There is something magical about that special kind of book. Whatever the content of the book, the mere fact that it had been leather clad is an enormous feeling of the lover of word. Nice poetry.

Ah, my dear friend....

a daughter clad leather onto
a Kindle, and then a Kindle Fire,
and I pick up volumes a day
and delve into libraries
and am smitten...

by her love,
and my love
of books...
and yet, my shelves heave
of those I shan't be rid of.

Very, very beautiful.  The Bible, I presume.

sunshine, ah yes there are so many treasures in the written word

Owlsa, yes you presume right, when uneasy, when unable to sleep...all I have to do is start to read and it all melts away...sigh

The delicacy of the thin pages are an invitation to slow down and let it comfort us and guide us to that resting place. *S*

Beautiful work, dear friend!! ((Hugs))

I love the feel of this poem.
It touches the heart.
So true.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself.
