I awaken with the darkness
will be an hour before daylight
and the room brightens with the morning sun
life is easy and lively
sunshine brightens the day
church bells call the faithful

life is good
life is bursting with mirth
I laugh at Zoe my mutt
I think she is laughing at me
either that
or she wants to go outside

all this laughing
one might think I am deranged
nothing further from the truth
nothing can compare to how I feel
I can't believe my good luck
I love you more today than yesterday

That sounds like a good enough reason to me; I'm happy for you Jerry.  It's very uplifting.

Thanks, Nicole. Days such as the one was when I wrote that poem are wonderful.

That last line leaves a happy sigh and smile with the reader... and, in my case, a bit of envy. LOL Love looks so good on you!

When it shines, it shines, doesn't it?

Brought to mind something I'd written a number of years ago ... hope you don't mind...

All My Love
I love her,
because just the though of her
fills the far reaches of my soul
with an incomparable warmth,
a richness,
a fullness,
that nothing can equal.
I love her because when she touches me
all the pressures of existence seem so small,
and insignificant.
No odds are to large,
no task insurmountable;
there is nothing I cannot do.
I love her because when she looks into my eyes
I feel I could absorb her into my being,
and live mingled as a single entity.
,I love her because when she speaks,
even in anger
there is no sound I would rather hear,
and when she speaks softly,
for me alone to hear,
the prettiest music in all the world
is merely an attempt at the unattainable.
I love her because she fulfills in me
the need of one soul for another,
the cravings of flesh for flesh,
and provides an outlet for all that I am.
I love her because she is she,
individual,
incomparable,
unparalleled warmth,
beauty,
and grace;
a paradigm of all that is wonderful.
I love her completely,
and unrevokably
forever,
and always.

I'm hanging my head a bit after reading this fantastic ode to the woman you loved, j. My poem somehow seems a bit worn and tattered compared to this one. Thanks for including it.
