Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

out my window
small birds flit
from tree to tree
among branches bared
quickly bobbing, dipping
as they seek food
in the shrinking snow
of winter’s lull

here's to hoping
small red berries
fill the bellies
of spring songs...

Yep, I'll drink to that, Sunshine.  Those birdies are probably all inenbriated from the berries on my Chokecherry trees.  That's why they are bobbing and dipping!

Ah, the shrinking of the snow is the miracle they need to get to the nourishment they need for survival. Nice image setting poem.

Yep, Jerry.  It's not quite shrinking yet, but it kind of collapses onto itself.  We are at the stage and the birds are happy.  Spring is around the corner!  Yay!

Oh, Alison, I do love sharing your Alaska with you.  This view of the promise of spring, out your window with your dogs and cats beside us, is picture-book beautiful.

I think the observer is as happy as the birds outside her window..
"as they seek food
in the shrinking snow
of winter’s lull"

Good poetry, Alison..:-)

Owl and ice ... thank you lots.  I wasn't really thinking of writing today and was gazing out my window.  The birds made me do it.  Gotta love the birds.

I was watching birds yesterday morning; we have these tiny tiny ones here that I'm fascinated by.  They're super small, and super loud, and usually when they're eating in the morning there are so many of them that it looks like the ground is moving.  There's something about watching them bob around being industrious, that is soothing to me.  As is your poem.

Hi Alison
Spring certainly on its way now..but we still have time for one last blast of winter.
Have the bird feeders outside the window, but I am sure we do not have anything like the cold you experience
nice words

The birds here are flitting amongst (and building nests in!) branches that are bursting with buds... nature's announcement that spring is here... even if the calendar won't agree for a while. *S* Thanks for sharing your view with us... I felt the brrrr... and the hope! *S*

It has been so warm here that last week the birds were looking for a place to nest on my front porch. Yesterday it turned cold and rainy but I don't think it will last long. I hope your little birds find enough to eat.

You all make me smile. Kind of like this --   But that is a bit scarey.

Thank you, Nicole.  They are fun to watch and almost can energize me on a lazy Sunday.  Almost.

Michael,

Cold is cold.  It's all a matter of perspective right?  Our ice carving park opened tonight.  I am hoping to stop by Friday nd get pictures.

Alison

-

Ruth,

Maybe the brrr is what keeps them flitting.  I bet.  Plus, that drive for food.  Don't have much fat on those little bird bodies.

Alison

Oh, jimmy.  That was just mean, you know.  Air conditioning?  Really?     Who would think?

yann,

I know you do care.  I read it in every one of your poems.  Which is why I am one of your fans!

I hope the birds are enjoying warm weather again, Ida. I know ours will be celebrating spring.

Delicate and yet natural.
I could hear the wings flapping
and the branches swaying...

Nice write A!!
