Darkness
By Paul Wilson

You bring out the worst of me
when I least expect it
The rage burns like an inferno
for hours and days it won’t quit

Time better spent by myself
waiting for the rage to subside
No longer able to control angers grasp
within the darkness I hide

Once I was a holy man
but now I have no soul
Lost in the cavity of my mind
I will forever pay Satan’s toll

One way train leaves at midnight
taking me to where I don't know
My soul drift’s on yesterdays wind
as I listen to train whistle blow

Particles of time float past me
unable to understand why
A victim of my illusions
the sky begins to cry

Rage loosens its grasp on me
thoughts begin to take shape
Within minds eye I can see
an opening allowing me to escape

I travel back to where I was before
floating on tomorrows wind
high above mountain tops
where all life does begin

~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~
Paul

Paul, good stuff here.  You describe rage well and show us where it takes us.  I think this is really interesting.

A mountain top is a sanctuary when feeling that way.
Felt the intense emotion, well done.

Rage often begets loneliness... either because we take ourselves away from others... or because we lose control and drive others away. I love this entire poem but especially these verses... Great write!!

Spontaneous Combustion aimed at its source . . . sometimes those fires need to burn if only to use up all available fuel...in a controlled burn anyway.

good piece...

Anger is very strong feeling.
I hope one day you will be able to forgive.

Sometimes we have to go through that darkness before we can see the light.  I know this better than most would I am sure.  Excellently depicted, Paul.
