we had our pep boy bobble head collection
they were maree wanna and joe b. jesus
and a virgin sarah with hawaiian skirt
lined up on the dash of our motel jitney

you bounced on the bed to make them dance
and said I should look at your eyes more
when they were open and not just closed
although you called my name out loud then

we cared about love more than those notch ohs
those grooves you carved on your memory thumb
to keep count of all the women I had known
so you could always be just one man behind me

we double parked our freeway close convertible
to make those wet mouth momentums move slowly
til they were jumbo grip fly paper perfection
face to face in the glue harvest of intentions

and we admitted things to out of the blue strangers

___________

This reminds me of why I read poetry..
Good solid words, none too many,
Like rip rap that stops for moments, the erosion of life
Placed on a steambank bend,
Words like these
Help brace me against the strife of it--

This is what poets like you do...

"Lay down these words
Before your mind like rocks.
placed solid, by hands
In choice of place, set
Before the body of the mind
in space and time"

(Gary Snyder, from "Rip Rap")

I do not think that there is anything about you that isn't deliberately placed; you certainly don't do anything halfway.  I love it.
