THANKS FOR THE RAINBOWS
20 February 2012

As I rest, sun-warmed,
on a welcoming rock
half way up tomorrow’s hill
that beckons me
to reach its summit
and touch the azure sky
in freedom’s wild-winged flight,
I gaze back beyond
the sapphired hills
and emerald valleys
with honeyed nostalgia
and wrap a million
fragrant
rainbow memories
around my solaced shoulders.

Rejoicing in the camaraderie
of God’s beloved creatures
around me
in air
and tree
and grass
and burrow,
a song slow-sings my heart
in twangs of harp
and calls of bird

and
in a far-off sea-cooled breeze
I hear the whisper
of its echo
echo
echo
embracing me
in murmurs of yesterdays

and slowly
I raise my eyes
to meet the sun
and resume my travels
up the hill
in solemn step,
with a single soft-eyed tear,
a smile of remembers,
and a quiver-duet
lodged in my heart’s core.

Thank you, Alison.  I am glad it did that for you.  You fit so easily into Nature yourself, and both of you bring solace.  Smiles.

Thank you, Ida.  I am glad it did.  Smiles.

Your poems remind me of a series of flowers I use in annual gardens.

The series is of many different species, each unique in its own color, and other ways.

The flowers range from aster to zinnia..

They are all called "simply Beautiful"

Just like your poems.

"It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack of what is found there"
(William Carlos Williams)

Thank you, James.

Thank you, Michelmas.  I am glad you think so.

Thank you, Ford.  What an exceptionally beautiful and special thing to say, especially with your love of nature and gardens!  Wow!

I love the picture I have of the annual gardens you create with your "Simply Beautiful" series.  I can see them, drinking up the sunshine that enhances their beauty.
