I remember how you said you wished for more words
that you could use as butterflies on your window
just for me words you suggested playfully innocent
and then you wrote some on my skin with saliva

backwards in your most amazing penpersonship
docking my sensitive parchment behind mirrors
so only my eyes would know your language sound
but then you traced them too with fingerings

pressing the frets of my chords into anthems
and gnawing upon my musical notes like candy bars
that you just bit and broke off in mouthfuls
but didn't swallow the sounds until they melted

I remember how you said you wished for more words
_________

There are lines in this poem that I want to steal - but the poem would be less without them.  It's beautiful in all its wording.
