Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Sometimes they fit like a glove
so complimentary it feels like love

Sometimes the gap is too far to span
pitting man against man

Often it is of things superficial
and not of matters crucial

Outside discriminations
belie inner imitations

Too often a difference misconstrued
lies at the heart of a needless feud

Even differences like night and day
are better than an endless gray

But differences as a spectrum defines
are only extreme at the end of the lines

Okay, I think I get it, Lori. When you wrote in the first poem these lines . . .

"No one would notice the difference
except from a distance
far far away"

And these lines here in this poem . . .

"But differences as a spectrum defines
are only extreme at the end of the lines"

Both are saying the same thing, that as we merge into the daily grind (more or less) we also merge our personalities to the point where everyone is basically alike. It is only at the far end of the spectrum that differences are observed.

I think you are deeper than I am, my friend.
