DADDY'S RED BUTTON CHAIR

When a memory comes to call
Beckoning the past to play
The heart beats with feelings recalled
Forgotten...for the past is gone

Till something sparks a memory
Be it song or sweet perfume
To bring forth the past to present day
For me it was a chair

Memory flashes with black and white
Of things long since past
But there in mind it sits so big and bright
The red leather chair

An oversized recliner
Red leather and brass studs
To us little girls, nothing was finer
Than Daddy's Red Button Chair

For four little girls to share
Until daddy came home
To claim his throne
Daddy's Red Button Chair

Many a year and time passes on
The chair all but forgotten
Filed away with fondest memories
Where the past is never really gone

Then one day without forethought
A present I did buy
A perfect gift for my Dad
But I didn't really know why

Until he sat and reclined
In his new red leather chair
Recalling a memory to mind
Of Daddy's Red Button Chair

Kat,

I remember my Dad's old Captain's chair, painted red.  We loved to sit on it and spin when he was away.  Thank you for bringing it back to me.
