I never wanted violins

no diamond-finger chandelier

No mansion on a hill for me

no carriage, when a cart would do.

I wanted you

right next to me

planting some t'maters,

To cover up the white-wash fence

that always leaned in places.

Elderberry and some herbs

and wood for heat in winter.

Two rocking chairs

A couch for pairs

and aloe for our splinters.

I always would try everything

until I didn't want a thing

but your hand in mine.

My bitter king? I'm not your queen,

nor as a lady in the wait.

I'm done with this,

and you can kiss,

the left cheek of the next fool, praying

for your fingers round her neck.

I knew the price.

Lol, why did I expect to see you'd posted a picture of me when I read your title?  This is the perfect Valentine's Day poem ya know...  Indeed, enough is enough.  ((Hugs)).

In Texas, it's OK to hate the one you love, and do unto [him] even more.

I know when you write it, you are subjecting yourself to reality.

And too many of us have worn those tight shoes, darlin'.

Write me.

What comes of me trying to sneak poetry while working, reading a poem during one sneak, responding sometimes hours later... and depending on the difference in link colors to tell me what I've read and haven't... is that I miss things. *S* And this is one I'm glad I went back and found... you may wish you hadn't written it, but it resounds with many... and I'm glad I got to read it. *S* ((hugs))

It's kind of a funny story.

I went to a parade, and the weather was close to sleet. I decided, mid-parade, that there is stoic tradition and insanity and rolled my walker home. (I had the flu, again.)

So for the next four days, I shivered in my room (I have no heat in here except for the occasional hot flash) hating, I mean, HATING the world. Especially all the buttholes having a good time without me.

Today? The fog lifted and I found a Valentine's present from my husband outside of my door--an electric blanket.

I'm not sure if he forgot to give it to me, or if I just didn't remember the gift...

such is life when one is married to a minion of the Krewe of Morpheus. (Guess who ain't there?) And um, I guess I'll go cook some rice to go with the red beans...my husband is the designated driver, so cross myself and mercy me. I'd better make cornbread too.

It's been a helluva week.

Thanks for reading.

grouchy arse Karen came back to add she UNDERSTANDS she wouldn't need a walker if she'd just would just relent and learn to use the cane.

I swore off cane years ago.

STOIC

Now, let me go add a little "Slap Yo Mama" to my beans and pray for a check for product endorsement.

I just wanted to tell you that I have read multiple poems by you and think you are an awesome poet! Your way with wordplay and the darkness and raw honesty are what I love about your work. I actually posted your poem as my facebook status one day and put "Serenity Blaze" as the author of it so I hope you don't mind!!

I guess I don't mind, and Jo? Um, there was no cord..

That's how it is, always, all good intent, and no cord.

I sure hope I don't end up famous.

What can one add to what's already been said multiple times, my friend.

Why - Ditto, of course.

Hang in, hang out . . . whatever,
just be there -
