sometimes we make classics out of ordinary
like mules for sister sarah you said
but her lips were pretty when she smiled

and you would prefer horses if it were you
but we would do it together with broomsticks
and they would never outrun our legs or minds

you sat by the fountain in your mischief pose
I love how your eyes glow when you pretend
not to have anything special on your agenda

well maybe a couple of things or three perhaps
if quietly done in the middle of rush hour
with the lights on and the sun shining in

and we left the tv on so sarah could finish
