He gathers fragments of his life,
savoring all, each holds a key.
He kisses each one of his wives,
They're all gone now, he outlived three.
That shouldn't be is what he thinks,
the life he's lived doesn't seem right.
He lived it with a nod and wink,
he's still here and that is his plight.
He's pardoned himself; that is true,
but forgiveness comes with heartache,
and there are nights when he's so blue,
he lays with eyes open awake.

Why should the bad outlive the good?
He'd have went for them if he could.
Still, inside his black heart he knows,
He's been saved for her wondrous glow.

It is so hard to look at a palm full of pieces, and ask these kinds of questions.  I love the sweet redemption at the end, Jerry.

Yes, it is difficult, Nicole, to look back at your life and ask the hard questions. There are times, however, when they must be asked. Thank you for being here.

Why should the bad outlive the good?

"The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Caesar." Antony in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar"

Those fragments are important, even when painful... I'm glad the heartache is soothed by heartglow!
