My lady, my lady, why do you grieve? I asked lady justice one chilly day,
She merely looked down and sobbed,
I watched the crystalline teardrops fall down below
Where suddenly there appeared the tragedies of time
Issues of race, issues of gender issues of all kinds.
Thus I asked her “what is this?”
To which in reply she continued to cry
Torrents of tears seemingly never ending,
And below appeared a kind girl
Of hazel hair and fair blue eyes
And an air of strength and resiliency known to so very few,
Another teardrop sent the image rippling in all directions,
The scene changed and she appeared again
Though this time she appeared to be worn by age
Like a hollow husk staring blankly into space,
And most notably of all alone,
“what is wrong with her?” I inquired of Justice with a sudden stirring in my heart
Justice said no words and uttered only tears of grief
And the scene below once again changed,
This time it was of a young man sitting at a table alone
While the multitudes passed him by
Till suddenly a stranger stopped, sat and gave him company
The chat was small
But apparently that was enough
The projection rippled on and on and on
Years seemed to pass
The two became friends and all was right
Or seemed as if it was so until the image of a grave appeared
And the young man sorrowfully whispering
“If only I had told him so”
Thousands of such images appeared
My eyes began to swell
And the tears began to freely flow.
That is when Justice silently said “there is hope” and smiled warmly
“How can that be?” I asked and added “when even love is torn apart?”
She pointed to where my tears had fallen
And softly said
“Love never dies,
And neither does hope
The tears you spill today
Will be your strength come tomorrow
Before you wouldn’t have spilled those tears
But now you have and why is that?”
I could not reply I couldn’t breath I could only cry and cry
“It feels terrible does it not?
It feels terrible when you grieve
And no one seems to care much less understand
So you keep silent and cry thinking you are alone
And you suffer the plight of the silenced
The plight of those souls
Ostracized by all and of course it isn’t fair.
But now you understand how they must feel
Now you have spilled tears
Now you realize they are flesh and bone and sinew just like you
And if everyone else did so too
There would be no need for such meaningless pain
Thus agony and sorrow may only be cured through knowledge
Now you have spilled tears and what will you do?

The dream ended there and I awoke with a troubled mind
With only phrase in mind
“what will you do?”

Love never dies,

The tears you spill today

Both love and hope have almost met their demise many times... but they are resilient and seem to keep hanging on, no matter what. I absolutely love this explanation! *S*
