question is "do you love me?"
I knew from the look in his eye
he needn't reply
and as time stood still
as only time does
when in your heart you know
deep down in soulful sorrow
he doesn't love you
maybe he never has
you bring a finger to his lips
to make sure the words are not produced
and with slow release you linger
as if in wait of words that will sing
but instead there is silence
it's then that you realise
your question will go unanswered
but all the while you know the truth
and the truth cuts deep
into your soulful sorrow
and you know there is no tomorrow
only this moment frozen in time
without the tick, tock, ticking
instead there is just the lingering
of soulful sorrow

Love is the life of the soul...
It is the harmony of the universe

So sad Tracie, as love often is. Makes for great poetry though.

Yes. When truth will out, truth will hurt. Sometimes it is better not to ask certain questions. Aw, but we can not ask, can we?

You could have plucked this right out of my head/heart...but you say it much better than I ever did.

Been there, done that... and can't stop the tears the remembering brings. Such sorrow is indeed soul deep.

Beautiful, bittersweet write!

sorrowful write, but remember, all of us, own our own culture, and love in the only way we know how...unfortunately, some of us, love longer, harder and better then others...?

This is absolutely exquisite, dear Tracie Maree! You render the feeling so well, with a melancholic elegance I would say. It cuts deep yes.

WOW!  This is a heart-breaker, for sure!
Loved the emotion in this write.

oh wow! look at all of you and your beautiful comments which I truly appreciate, thankfully this is not what is going on in my "real" life. I don't know where this came from, I just clicked on the new topic button and started typing away and this is what came out

for many it's the unspoken/unanswered question, because the question IS always there, even in the best of times, most times.

The words brought to mind the song in Fiddler On The Roof asking and answering that very same thing.

Well done, my friend,

j.
