TONIGHT IN MY STUDY
31 January 2012

Cat dosing on my matured and yellow-wooded desk
and dog sleeping at my feet,
fingers soft-paused on the expectant keyboard,

feeling your presence,
slowly I lift my eyes
to precisely the fourth shelf from the ceiling
almost in the corner
of one wall of my beloved books,
hand-picked over decades
in solemn bookshop caverns
of stalactites and stalagmites,
sometimes excitedly treasure-hunting at sales,

and for a smoke-signal moment,
you are there,
smiling into the secrets of my soul
with those eyes that rapture me,
you are there
in the heart of a whisper,
reassuring me with your protective aura,

and the colours of the books
are the notes your fingers soft-strum
on my shoulders bared for you

and you laugh happily
at catching me
dreaming of you
dreaming of me
in shared paintings more enchanting
than the dawn and dusk love songs
serenading us softly,

and my lips drown
in your eyes
and rainbow chimera’s
born out of four seasons
and more,
blend us into a swirling rhapsody
of our knowing.

serenading us softly,

I love the moment you've captured so perfectly (or purrfectly *S*)... Such visits defy miles... and make smiles. *S* Beautiful work!!

you are so lucky to have such a love living in your heart and mind, that I am sometimes reticent to read you...but your words and heart are so beautiful that my fingers always overide my jealousy and then I immerse myself in your words...and through you, I feel love.......

Luminosity, I was momentarily silenced in awe and appreciation of the raw yet sensitive beauty of your reply.  Thank you so much, especially for thinking that my heart is beautiful - and as much as I hate that my words could bring you momentary jealousy, I am heart-warmed and deeply happy that when you immerse yourself in my words, you feel love.  Thank you so much for telling me.  I am honoured to have brought you that.

Yes, I am very, very lucky to have such a love living in my heart and mind, so very lucky.  I treasure it like fine porcelain and thank my lucky stars for it.  I am happy that you could see it.

oh I love this, how reassuring and calming, you feel this is this beautifully written piece.

Dian
You are very good at setting the theme for your poems..

The first stanza is a perfect example of that skill..

I love your offererings, they are kind of like love ballads...like mini serenades at my window, that I listen to intently.

And the endings are just as they should be, leaving me in want for more...:-)

Thank you, Tracie, for your kind words.

Ford, thank you for loving both the art and the heart of my poem, as you always do, and for listening so intently to the mini-serenade at your window and for always wanting more.  You make me feel like a real poet.  Smiles.

I believe I have had those moments, but I have never been able to put them to words.  You not only do that, but you paint a canvas of color to go with it - and build comfort around me to open the door.  Love this, Diana.  Love the cat, the dogs, the books the look and the books.  Love it all.

"Cat dosing on my matured and yellow-wooded esk

If that doesn't sound like a writer, nothing ever will!!

much enjoyed the read, my friend.
