Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2012-01-28 01:35 PM

Enough is enough
I can't take it anymore
Yes I know
I've said it before
But things have changed
things I can't ignore
I have to stop it now
even if it means war
My life is at stake
I'm scared to my core
I'm out of excuses
there aren't anymore
I'm kicking the damned cigarettes
out the friggin' door

Good for you. You won't regret it. I'm still living because I kicked that filthy damned habit.

I know, but I have a feeling, from how this poem was written, that you will beat the habit. I do know it is your life we're talking about. Do it!

Good for you!     It's a hard, hard thing - but you've approached it head on and strong.

I quit a three pack a day habit in my late 20's, then quit my pipe habit in my early 50's.  I had to take a couple of tries for the cigarettes, but that worked out fine, and the pipe worked out fairly well, too.  I found hypnosis was a big help for the pipe, and wished I'd have thought to try it for the cigarettes earlier.

There are some fairly nice breathing exercises you can learn that will help you pick up abdominal breathing, which is a transformative sort of practice if you're interested in that sort of thing, and you can check some of thoise sorts of things out on the web these days for free or you might want to  research some of B.K.Frantzis's material on the web here and there.  He knows what he's about; and, as a behavior change principle, the notion of DOING something, especially if it's a bit different rather than NOT doing the same old something you're used to doing, will sometimes make helping a change happen more effortless than it might be otherwise.

Some people may not believe the change is real unless they have to suffer for it, but many of us are quite happy to have a change be effortless, simple, painless and as happy as possible.  This may be one of those where a choice is possible, and learning how to do some pleasant abdominal breathing in a slow, effortless fashion might help the process along.

As an alternative to the suffering routine, I mean.  Or not.

But I musy say, I'm thrilled at seeing the way you're headed, and I think you must be proud as all get out.  You certainly deserve to be.

     My best, Bob Kaven.

Thanks For your fantastic support everyone!
I'm still smoke free and my resolve is strong. Everytime I have a craving I get angry and visualize myself dragging around oxygen.  Bless all your hearts!
