Seeking Eternity

Hello,
is anyone there . . .
anyone at all?
I've said all the things
they say should be said,
closed my eyes,
scratched my knees
from all the places I've knelt . . .
but, hello,
is anyone there . . .
can anyone at all hear my prayer,
my shouts, my cries, moans,
silent plea's . . .

Hello, God . . . ?
I think maybe you've died,
gone on a trip,
got your head somewhere else,
or never were . . . anyway,
because you sure as heck don't hear me,
have chosen not to hear me,
or just don't care
like they say you do.

Tomorrow though,  I think,
you're gonna know me,
see me, hear me . . .
because I'll be standing before you
yelling as loud as I can,
asking why the heck am I there . . .
when you could have stopped me,
just by saying .  .  . 'hello' .  . .

Hello,
is anyone there . . .
anyone at all,
anyone . . .
at all.

I wonder how many people have thought these  thoughts but were afraid to voice them.

This is a very thought provoking piece. I too wonder how many people out there think like this. I truly enjoyed the read!

I agree, thought provoking indeed - thanks for sharing this my friend.

Uh, j. you have to realize that God is a crock. Wish He wasn't, but he is a crock.

Over the years I have encountered so many
as this depicts.  Some realize they needn't be
so lonely, others just don't get it
at all.  You have done a great job at
bringing this subject to a real-life-example.

I think we all have cried out like this at times.  My father used to say God was a crock too - until he was dying.  Seems he wanted to hedge his bets then.  Like Jimmy says - everyone is entitled, but I think everyone has asked this question and thought these thoughts at some point in their lives.  You wrote it well, Jimmy.
