perhaps it was those butterfly afternoons
that taught my eyes to love her wings
when I was but a moistened mouth of words
and they had the wind as an ocean to sail

my hands would make cages for their rapture
and they would strum their music within
tempting my fingers to close them in darkness
so their vibrations were hidden in my coveting

I opened my hands and bid them fly to the sun
watching their dancing as if they were gods
how they went from bloom to flower and tree
then returned to my mind just to bless my eyes

and my hands would make rapture for her wings

I'll echo the sighs, this is gorgeous....love the line "when I was but a moistened mouth of words"
Adding this to the list, I always seem to find a new favourite of yours

"Poetry is not an opinion expressed. It
is a song that rises from a bleeding
wound...or a smiling mouth"
~Kahlil Gibran~
