you brought the sticky stuff along
and left it here and there on purpose
so I would know where you had been
and where you would come back to

you said there would be hungry days
when you would make me uncomfortable
and you hoped I didn't mind them
or even pretending they were here now

I picked your flower from the bouquet
and wore it on my lapel as a badge
and made you pull over to arrest you
but you said the cuffs were not needed

as you would confess to most everything
as long as your sentence was eternal
and I made you pay dearly for your sins
with the punishments befitting your crime

as well as those you hadn't even mentioned
