Love Is

Love is beauty beyond the eye,
Cirrus clouds afloat on the sky.
A rainbow on your darkest day,
A touch that tells you, "it's o.k."

Invisible arms that keep you warm -
That hold you tight amidst life's storm.
A smile by the grace of dawn,
The sweetest vision ever drawn.

A fluttering heart, a gentle hand...
A soul you know, and understand.
A wisp of dream, a priceless worth...
Love is, truly, heaven on earth.

Love is intrigue, love is romance.
Love is a gliding moonlight dance.
Love is compassion beyond need,
Love is, within us all, a seed.

Nurtured, it blooms - becomes a flower...
A fragrance sweet, and yet, a power.
A strength you can rely upon,
As soundless as the silver swan.

Love is forgiving, understanding,
Ne'er expecting, nor demanding.
Love is patient, kind, and pure.
Tantalyzing... yet demure.

A wish, a hope, a dream, a sigh;
A shooting start across the sky...
An undying, timeless endeavor,
For when found true, Love is forever.

Yes!  Yes!  You "nailed it" Michael.

"When found true, Love is forever" - Exactly!  I really do like and agree with your "Love is".  Thank you so much for re-posting.

Helen

By the way, my son is a juggler - he enjoyed your poem.

This is very, very lovely, Michael, and beautifully portrayed.  I agree with every single syllable.

Last line capsules it best, Michael. Love is a lot of things, but that stanza is kickass.

I remember this one... Just as poignant as it ever was.  You carve your niche in the darkness, hon - but you're just as good at letting your muse sing love songs.

Ms E. & JL, thank you so much, glad you two enjoyed.

Helen, I'm glad you liked it, and "agreed" with it.     your son doesn't juggle daggers does he?

Owl, thank you... Did know I had it in me, did ya?

JP, thank you, sir... I firmly stand by that last stanza.  It will be my dying mantra.

Bel1e, Hallmark? ... Yuk!

Nicole, lol... As if I had some kind of control over my muses.

Yes, he does and fire as well but I think the daggers are the least dangerous being not quite the genuine article.  Fire, however, is fire - and in between all that the juggle of life continues.

Wow, Helen, I certainly tip my hat to him.  I wanted to bring firey torches into the poem butfelt the need to keep it concise... And, of course, the juggle of life, (from the vantage point of the juggled),  is what that poem really is about.

Just so you know I'm telling the truth -

However, he's mostly a musician - piano, guitar and flute.  Also sings and, of course, writes music - and the mother just studies life.

Wow... Great page Helen... Thank you so much for sharing.  I feel inspired for another poem suddenly.  As a parent, I know you must be extremely proud.  My start in poetry came from song writing in a absolutely horrible Heavy Metal band once upon a time.  I wan not able to juggle fatherhood with that ambition so I hung it up... And no, my children are my life so I have absolutely no regrets.  Thatnk you again... Tell Devin I think he's awesome.

This is incredibly beautiful, dear friend... every line goes straight to the heart. *S* However illusive love may be, you've defined why it's worth the search... and the suffering for its sake. *S*

Owl,     maybe just a little.

J., thank you, Sir.

Ruth, definately worth it!  The soul without it is ever unsettled.

James, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed.
